Marla is created by hand dyeing two different multicolor plies, and then twisting them into one unique, marled yarn. This gives the yarn the same look as hand-spun yarn. It is hand dyed by women artisans in Manos cooperatives in Uruguay's countryside. The artisans are all owners of the company and profits are shared and re-invested into the cooperatives. Manos is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization, engaged in raising awareness and campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of international trade.
