She learns that she may not be able to fix everything wrong in her life and how to cope with that. There are not a lot of books about young female athletes, let alone books about women in MMA. While it is about wrestling and MMA, it’s not a violent book. The focus is on Rowan and how she tries to help her family while they deal with her father’s illness. Ali Bryan’s debut YA novel was longlisted for the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize. Her debut adult novel, Roost, won the Georges Bugnet Award for Fiction and was selected for One Book Nova Scotia.
