First introduced in 1998, Tanqueray Malacca Gin is based on a recipe developed by Charles Waugh Tanqueray dating back to 1839. He was known to travel extensively in search of exoti c spices to include in his gins and created a spiced spirit inspired by his expedition of the southwestern coast of the Malay Peninsula. The gin became a cult favorite among bartenders and cocktail aficionados, but was sadly discontinued in 2001. In response to bartender demand, Tanqueray relaunched the gin in 2013, at a limited production run of 100,000 bottles.
