Into The Woods Recordings, producer/selector Jimmy Maheras delivers “Tartessos,” a nod to his Greek roots and enigmatic journey into minimal dub. “Tartessos” is hypnotic with a dee p percussive pulse and harmonic delays that spiral across a four to the floor bass line and kick pattern. Maheras builds a steady atmospheric cloud of textures that peak during composed beat breaks and melodic shifts. On the B-side, Roman Flügel delivers an outstanding remix that doubles down on the delays and pushes into traditional dub-tech territory. Flügel composed this remix across a live mixing desk, using an original effects chain to create a mix that maintains the momentum of the original track while adding new flourishes that are distinctive and fresh.
