Organic simplistic design, these baskets are handwoven from the Totora Reed, which grows in the coastal wetlands to the high plateaus of Lake Titicaca. Perfect for storing everyday items or as a sculptural piece in your home. Throughout history Totora has been used in Peru, most notably for fishing vessels dating back 3,000 years. In Lake Titicaca the Uros people live on floating islands made of Totora. Made by a cooperative of artisans in Northern Peru, the stalks are first harvested, dried, and later woven into baskets. Care Instructions: Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or brush. Spot clean gently with a lightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Avoid soaking or prolonged exposure to moisture, as natural Junco reeds may warp or weaken over time. Keep out of direct sunlight to preserve the natural color and texture.
