I have come to notice a fundamental flaw in training bibs. As the owner and product developer of a sportswear brand, we set about redesigning and improving Training Bibs. The current trend for training bibs are in the shape of a balloon that tends to flair out around the body. The current training bib is not consistent in shape or design with playing jumpers. What this current flawed design means is that players are able to lay tackles that are technically incorrect and not suitable for game day. A balloon shaped training bib allows the player to tackle the wearers garment and not the body of the player. As mentioned, this is allowing players to lay what we call “lazy tackles” which are not correct. The balloon design also opens the door for fingers to be trapped and injured during the execution of the “lazy tackle”. As elite performance clubs with elite talent, it is vital that the equipment supplied to the players is not only going to improve their skills but also protect them from unnecessary injuries.
