A tea towel is a woven cotton cloth for drying dishes, glassware and hands. Maison Elhoria's Rainbow tea towel is woven in Lancashire from organic and recycled cotton, in a heavyweight herringbone, and measures about 70 x 48cm. Bold rainbow stripes, run right through the cloth, not printed on top. This is the tea towel that earns its spot over the oven rail and keeps a plain kitchen cheerful. It is a proper everyday workhorse. Very absorbent, and woven in a herringbone that dries glasses without leaving lint or streaks. The colour will not fade or crack the way a print does, so it looks as good after a year of washes as it did on day one. Like all our cloth, it is woven in Lancashire, in one of the last working cotton mills in Britain, then cut and sewn in the same place. The stripes are inspired by the French Basque textiles in our founder Sophie's family home, still in daily use, and reworked for a modern British kitchen. KEY DETAILS Woven in Lancashire from organic and recycled cotton Heavyweight herringbone weave, very absorbent and lint-free on glass Measures about 70 x 48cm Hanging hoop Made in Britain, woven, never printed HOW TO CARE FOR IT Wash at 40 degrees on a low spin with a light load. Iron while still damp for the crispest finish. The herringbone has a natural movement, so the stripes may sit a little differently on each towel. That is the weave, not a fault, and it is part of the character. WHY MAISON ELHORIA Woven, never printed, so the colour lasts. Made in Britain in small batches. This is the buy-less-buy-better tea towel, one you will still be reaching for in ten years. COMMON QUESTIONS Is it really absorbent? Yes.
