Tear Drop Cutting Fixture The GizFab Tear Drop Cutting Fixture is a simple, cost-effective fabrication tool designed to make producing consistent teardrop-shaped cuts in tube bends considerably easier. Designed to be clamped directly into your bandsaw vice, the fixture securely positions the bend at the required orientation, taking much of the measuring, marking and guesswork out of producing repeatable teardrop sections. Ideal for exhaust, manifold and general tubular fabrication where consistent cuts are essential. Key Features Designed by GizFab Designed for Producing Teardrop-Shaped Tube Sections Designed for Bandsaw Use Helps Produce Accurate & Repeatable Cuts Holds the Bend Securely During Cutting Available for Common Tube Diameters Available for Common Centreline Radii (CLR) Cost-Effective Fabrication Tooling Ideal for Exhaust & Manifold Fabrication Custom Sizes Available on Request 12-Month Warranty Make Teardrop Cuts the Easy Way Producing consistent teardrop sections manually can involve a surprising amount of measuring, marking and trial-and-error. The GizFab Tear Drop Cutting Fixture provides a repeatable reference for positioning the bend in your bandsaw, making it considerably easier to reproduce the same cut across multiple components. Simply select the correct fixture for your tube diameter and centreline radius (CLR), position the bend correctly within the fixture, secure it in your bandsaw vice and make the required cut. Designed for Bandsaw Use The fixture is designed to be held directly within the vice of a suitable metal-cutting bandsaw. Rather than trying to securely clamp a curved section of tube directly between conventional flat vice jaws, the fixture supports and positions the bend while providing a consistent cutting reference. This is particularly useful when producing multiple matching sections where repeatability is important. Tube Diameter & CLR Options Teardrop geometry is affected by both the tube diameter and the centreline radius of the bend, so selecting the correct fixture is important. Fixtures are available for all common tube diameters and centreline radii. Tube diameter alone is not enough to determine the correct fixture. For example, two bends can have the same outside diameter but completely different centreline radii. Please ensure you know both: Tube Diameter Centreline Radius (CLR) before selecting your fixture. What is CLR? CLR stands for Centreline Radius. This is the radius measured from the centre of the bend to the centreline of the tube. It is commonly used to describe bends as ratios such as 1D, 1.5D and 2D. For example, a 2" diameter 1.5D bend would typically have a centreline radius of: 2" × 1.5 = 3" CLR Selecting the correct CLR is essential for the fixture to correctly match the geometry of your bend. Ideal for Fabrication Work The Tear Drop Cutting Fixture is suitable for fabricators working on projects including: Exhaust Systems Turbo Manifolds Naturally Aspirated Exhaust Manifolds Collectors & Merge Sections Downpipes Intake Systems Intercooler Pipework Custom Tubular Fabrication Whether you're producing a one-off component or repeating the same cut across multiple parts, the fixture provides a simple way of improving consistency. Can't See the Size You Need? We offer fixtures for the most common tube diameters and centreline radii. Can't see your size listed? Contact us with the tube diameter and exact CLR of the bend you're using and we can look at adding the required option. Important - Do Not Over-Clamp The fixture only needs to be clamped sufficiently to prevent the bend and fixture from moving during the cutting operation. Do not excessively tighten the bandsaw vice. Excessive clamping force is unnecessary and may damage the fixture. Workshop Safety This product is a positioning and cutting aid only. It does not replace correct machine operation, guarding or appropriate PPE. Before cutting: Confirm the Correct Tube Diameter Confirm the Correct Centreline Radius Ensure the Bend is Correctly Positioned Secure the Fixture Without Excessive Clamping Force Ensure the Workpiece Cannot Rotate or Move Check Bandsaw Blade Clearance Ensure Machine Guards are Correctly Positioned Wear Appropriate PPE Always verify the dimensions, orientation and intended cut before machining valuable material. 12-Month Warranty* This product is warranted to the original purchaser against manufacturing defects for a period of 12 months from purchase. Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at our discretion, where inspection confirms a manufacturing or material defect. The warranty does not cover normal workshop wear, cosmetic deterioration, cutting or blade damage, heat damage, excessive clamping force, crushing, modification, incorrect use or accidental damage. This product is a fabrication aid. The operator remains responsible for verifying tube dimensions, centreline radius, cutting position and final component geometry before cutting the workpiece.
