Key features include a coreless direct-drive motor for high torque and speed stability, a three-layer platter for vibration damping, and a high-precision tonearm. It represents a fusion of Technics' traditional analog expertise and advanced digital technology Coreless Direct-Drive Motor: The SL-1200G utilizes a coreless direct-drive motor, which eliminates cogging (speed fluctuations) and allows for smooth, accurate platter rotation. This is crucial for accurate sound reproduction and minimizes unwanted noise. Twin-Rotor Construction: The motor also features a twin-rotor design that reduces the bearing load, enhancing stability and reducing vibration. Three-Layer Platter: The platter, constructed with brass and aluminum and damped with rubber, further minimizes vibrations and resonance, ensuring a clean and stable playback surface. High-Precision Motor Control: Advanced motor control technology, developed with Blu-ray technology, optimizes the motor's performance for high starting torque and speed stability High-Damping Magnesium Tonearm: The tonearm, made of lightweight magnesium, provides high damping, further reducing vibrations and allowing for accurate tracking of the record groove. Precision tone-arm bearings allow friction free tone-arm movement and the gimbal bearings reveal zero wiggle or twist. Precision Balance Adjustment: The turntable is factory-balanced using specialized high-precision equipment, ensuring optimal performance right out of the box Cartridge not included is the standard option Choose and purchase a cartridge from our selection and we will fit and align Send us your cartridge for fitting and alignment enquiries call (604) 351-3485 Audiophile-Grade Components: The SL-1200G uses high-quality components throughout, including robust chassis construction and high-quality terminals, contributing to its overall build quality and longevity. Reviews Stereophile Award Winner "few turntables offer as much value as the SL-1200G, the quality of its engineering and execution "makes typical audiophile products look slightly homemade." "The interplay of the rhythm guitar, bass, cuica, and percussion at the track's beginning can sound chaotic and disjointed on some systems. The Technics sorted the passage better than just about any source I've heard, playing it with uncommon coherence, order, and drive. My idler-drive Garrard excels at drive, but the SL-1200G was better yet, (re)creating the unflappable, locked-in grooves of its famous predecessor." Stereophile "It offers up such a balanced amount of analog performance, that you’ll never notice you aren’t listening to a $30,000 turntable. If you haven’t considered a direct drive turntable for audiophile duty, I can’t suggest the Technics SL-1200G highly enough. I’m happy to award it one of our Exceptional Value Awards for 2017 and not only have I purchased the review sample, I’m thinking of a second one, just because." read the review Tone Publications video review - please allow 10 secs to load Specifications Turntable Section Type Direct Drive Manual Turntable Turntable Speeds 33 1/3, 45, 78 rpm Adjust Range ±8 %, ±16 % Starting Torque 3.3 kg･cm (2.8 lb-in) Build-up Characteristics 0.7 s. from Standstill to 33-1/3 r/min Wow And Flutter 0.025% W.R.M.S.
