About the Watch: Vintage dive watch enthusiasts will be quick to notice the Technos Sky Diver Super Compressor Automatic Ref 1340. With a tell-tale case design by Ervin Piquerez S.A., the Sky Diver has a dual crown system for setting the inner dive bezel independently from the time and a spring-loaded case back to create a tighter gasket seal. The History: The Technos brand was created in 1900 by the Guzinger family in Switzerland. Gaining popularity after WWII, the Technos brand released several models, including the Technos Atomium, the Popular, as well as the SkyDiver, prior to its sale to the General Watch Co. in 1970. The Watch: The Technos Sky Diver Super Compressor Automatic Ref 1340 features a stainless steel Super Compressor-style case that measures 42mm wide with a lug to lug distance of 49.6mm. Powered by an automatic movement, the Technos Sky Diver features a Plexiglas crystal and a date window at the 3 o’clock position. The Details: This Technos Sky Diver Super Compressor Automatic is in very good condition. This piece just had a full movement service in January 2022. The case presents with crisp lines and has some visible wear consistent with the age of this timepiece. Both crowns have the Technos logo present, as does the case back, with the original etchings present. The lume on the hour markers and hands have developed a patina, as has the matte black dial. The case number etching between the lugs at the 6 o’clock position is present and clear, as visible in the photographs.
