Telopea 'Shady Lady White' is an evergreen, compact large shrub with dark green leathery leaves and profusions of large, pure-white flowers in spring. 'Shady Lady White's' flowers are great for attracting native birds to the garden and for creating a safe haven. This spectacular hybrid waratah (Telopea speciosissima x T. oreades) is a fantastic, low-maintenance addition to native and wildlife-friendly gardens, as well as pot and container gardens. Once the flowers have finished, prune the plant back 2-4 inches to encourage healthy new growth to emerge. Plant in well-drained, low-pH soils. Moderate water requirements once established; be sure to keep soil moist during periods of extended heat and dry. Keep the plant well watered for the first 2 years for it to establish. While this plant can tolerate full sun, it thrives in a position which is sheltered from the extreme hot afternoon sun in summer. Moderate frost tolerance.
