Communicating Climate Change through textiles. Temperature Textiles range from knitted blankets, to scarves and socks and are designed to carry climate data. The textiles are aesthetic carriers of data that are designed to visualise Global Warming. The aim of the project is to manifest climate related data into a series of textile objects that provide warmth to the user.A carefully curated colour scheme is applied to support each category. In the case of Temperature Blanket a selection of warm shades are combined. Flatbed knitting is traditionally used for the production of pullovers and outerwear garments. The technique of knitting reduces wast due to its Made-to-measure ability. For the development of the flat knit blankets the studio has teamed up with TextielLab.The pattern of the blanket is based on the 4 different scenario predictions that have been modelled by IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). Each diagram is based on one emission scenario, RCP (Representative Concentration Pathways) 2.6, 4.0, 6.5 and 8.5. These range from the least emission, according to Paris Climate Agreement until the maximum emission without any decrease of Greenhouse Gas.10% of the sales will be donated to Trees For All.
