Tenacity Herbicide Tenacity Herbicide is a professional selective turf herbicide powered by mesotrione for pre-emergent and post-emergent control of more than 46 broadleaf and grassy weeds in cool-season turf. It is the only turf herbicide labeled for use at or near seeding while providing residual weed control, making it an outstanding choice for new lawn establishment, overseeding, and turf renovation. Tenacity controls difficult weeds including crabgrass, creeping bentgrass, nimblewill, yellow nutsedge, clover, ground ivy, and many additional annual and perennial weeds. Its unique Group 27 HPPD mode of action provides excellent resistance-management value while allowing applications before, during, or after seeding on labeled turf species. For post-emergence applications, a non-ionic surfactant is required. We recommend ProSurf 90 Non-Ionic Surfactant for optimum performance. Features & Benefits ✔ Controls over 46 broadleaf and grassy weeds with both pre- and post-emergence activity. ✔ Can be applied at or near seeding, making it ideal for new lawn establishment and overseeding. ✔ Excellent control of difficult weeds including creeping bentgrass, nimblewill, crabgrass, and yellow nutsedge. ✔ Provides residual soil activity to reduce future weed germination. ✔ Systemic HPPD inhibitor (Group 27) with a unique mode of action for resistance-management programs. ✔ Safe for use on labeled established and newly seeded cool-season turfgrass species when applied according to label directions. ✔ Requires a non-ionic surfactant for post-emergence applications—ProSurf 90 is recommended for maximum weed control. Labeled Use Sites Tenacity Herbicide is labeled for use on residential and commercial lawns, golf courses (except putting greens), athletic fields, parks, cemeteries, airports, sod farms, and other ornamental turf areas. It may be applied before seeding, at seeding, or after establishment on labeled turfgrass species including Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescue, perennial ryegrass, fine fescues, buffalograss, centipedegrass, and St. Augustinegrass sod. It is especially valuable for turf renovation and overseeding projects where traditional herbicides cannot be used. Target Weeds Tenacity provides selective control or suppression of more than 46 grassy and broadleaf weeds including creeping bentgrass, nimblewill, large crabgrass, smooth crabgrass, southern crabgrass, goosegrass, barnyardgrass, yellow foxtail, yellow nutsedge, annual bluegrass (suppression), white clover, hop clover, chickweed, henbit, ground ivy, oxalis, dandelion, buckhorn plantain, carpetweed, purslane, lambsquarters, pigweed, smartweed, wild carrot, wild violet, Canada thistle, sowthistle, speedwell, marestail, lawn burweed, healall, windmillgrass, Florida betony, Florida pusley, and numerous additional labeled weeds. Application Notes Tenacity may be applied as both a pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide. Post-emergence applications require the addition of a non-ionic surfactant for optimum control, and repeat applications at 2–3 week intervals may be needed for difficult weeds. Temporary whitening of susceptible weeds—and occasionally desirable turf—is a normal symptom of the herbicide's mode of action and is typically temporary. For best pre-emergent performance, rainfall or irrigation is recommended if rainfall has not occurred within 10 days after application.
