A flower picked on Monday is still there in March.Children fill the paper pages with whatever they gathered on the walk, tighten the screw at each corner, and leave it alone. A wee k later the flowers come out flat, dry, and keepable, ready for a journal page, a card, or a frame. The waiting is as much of the lesson as the pressing.Wooden boards, paper sheets between them, four metal corner screws. It loads in a minute and then sits on a shelf, which is what makes it work in a classroom: the activity has a beginning on one day and an ending on another, and nothing needs supervising in between.
