Tenth Planet Explores Math: Geometry Creating Patterns From Shapes MAC CD school Type: Children Platform: Mac Publisher: Sunburst Released: 1998 Media: CD Tenth Planet Explores Math: Geometry: Creating Patterns From ShapesIn this Investigation, students continue to develop their understanding of the geometric world around them as they create patterns from shapes. In this way, they build a foundation for understanding more abstract mathematical concepts such as number and measurement. As they work with radiating and tiling patterns, they develop the ability to classify information and gain a sense of the regularity of mathematics.Students explore creating patterns from shapes in a number of challenging activities, such as trading shapes in a pattern while retaining its overall size and shape and forming larger squares from four squares of two colors. In solving these problems, students connect areas of mathematics such as number, measurement, and estimation to what they are doing in geometry. Creating Patterns from Shapes provides lessons that integrate experiences with manipulatives, realworld objects, cross-curricular activities, and multimedia. Thus children make connections with math concepts in different ways that accommodate different learning styles and ability levels. For Mac (Power Macintosh: OS 9 or Below) [*Please review compatibility/platform sections in 'What You Get']
