Terrasol (2-Ethyl Fenchol) is perhaps the most true to life damp earth chemical next to geosmin which is literally the chemical that causes the scent of rain. On first sniff pure, Terrasol has a slightly camphoraceous scent - almost a blend of camphor, menthol, eucalyptus and ethyl salicylate. However, in dilution and in use, that gives way to pure petrichor and decaying leaves. Use this to naturalise fragrances that are high in synthetics. With floral blends, Terrasol will root the flower in the earth. Touches of green materials give you the complete garden — soil, flower, foliage. Another very clever use is to blend this with synthetic woods, or even dry woods like cedar, to dampen them down. Blended right this can contributed a cool effect by association (think autumn forests and winter wood piles). The material is long lasting so it will sit alongside your naturals quite comfortably matching longevity.
