Grégoire and Judi Perron work two and a half hectares at Journans, on the edge of the Bugey where the Jura massif runs into the Alpine foothills, spread across more than twenty par cels. They also buy from growers they trust, Jacquère and Chasselas out of Savoie, Chardonnay and Aligoté from Burgundy, which is how a domaine this small keeps a range going at all. Grégoire taught himself the cellar. Judi works the vines, draws the labels and looks after the horse and the sheep that work alongside them. Nothing is added to these wines, sulphur included. This white is bright and unpolished, citrus and orchard fruit over a stony base, with the faintly wild edge that comes of leaving things alone. Show more
