The structure in this image is built up from the largest distance scales to the smallest, beyond what is observable to the naked eye. Forms generated by this process are fractal in nature and any perceived shapes and boundaries are illusory. Under sufficient zoom, any apparently discrete structure or color breaks up into an uncountable number of shifted and shrunken self-similar simulacra. The final effect is reminiscent of an irregular tessellation, which is a phenomenon where non-repeating tiles completely cover a surface without gaps or overlaps.
