The Textured backpack is the largest object in the line built on this technique. Moyal studied leather craft under master artisans in Florence, where the handling of material is understood as a discipline before it becomes a design decision. The crumpling is done without press or mold - each session of making produces a topography specific to that session, which means the relief on this backpack's face is unrepeatable. The body is soft sheep leather: light against the back, warm quickly, with the give of a material that yields to the body rather than holding against it. Saddlery leather - the dense, high-tensile category historically used for harness and equipment - provides structural reinforcement at straps and base, where the load actually sits.
