Textured wrap ring workshop Spend a creative morning at The Studio learning how to turn a simple strip of silver into a stylish, adjustable wrap ring. This workshop is a wonderful introduction to the versatility of sterling silver. Unlike a traditional closed band, a wrap ring ‘coils’ around the finger, allowing for a comfortable fit and plenty of space for decorative experimentation. In this session, you will explore how to manipulate the surface of the metal using various silversmithing tools; it’s a great introduction to the craft! What to Expect This is a relaxed introductory workshop. I will guide you through the following steps: Design and cutting: You will learn how to calculate the length needed for a wrap design and saw your silver from a sterling silver sheet. Surface texturing: This is where you can get creative. You will use the rolling mill, patterned hammers, or metal stamps to impress unique designs into the silver. Annealing and shaping: You will use a torch to soften the metal (annealing), making it pliable enough to coil around a ring mandrel to your exact size. Refining the ring: You will learn how to file and shape the edges of the ring to ensure they are smooth and sit comfortably against the skin. What’s Included Materials: All the sterling silver needed to create your wrap ring.
