The Angel Gabriel appears, and before she can utter a word the pot is crashing to the floor. Gabriel said in a reassuring voice "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." (1:28) This stressed Mary even more. The angel said to not be afraid, that she was to give birth to a son, and name Him Jesus. He will be great and called the Son of the Most High. Mary asked how this could be since she was a virgin. The angel said, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and overshadow you." (1:35) Mary responded, "I am your servant, may it be as you have said." (1:38) And history has not been the same since.
