"This painting was done as part of an ongoing apprenticeship with master Woodlands artist, Mark Anthony Jacobson (Anishinaabe). Sharing knowledge and skills through mentorship is an invaluable way to impart important aspects of culture to young artists. I am honoured to work with Mark, as I continue to develop on sharing our stories through art." -Mike Alexander is an emerging Anishinaabe artist originally from Swan Lake First Nation in Treaty #1 territory, who lives on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
