A fly fisherman stands in clear water with willow trailing over his shoulder and wildflowers crowding the bank behind him. Trout are holding in the current below, visible through w ater clean enough to count the gravel. A wooden footbridge crosses further downstream and leads the eye off towards a church tower and a patchwork of fields. His line is in the air. Nothing has happened yet. Clear water over gravel is both the pleasure and the problem, because you can see straight through it and the riverbed has to be built as carefully as the bank above it. The willow forms a canopy to work down from and the bridge provides a hard structure in the middle distance. Green, gold and a great deal of moving water, with more fine detail than almost anything else we make. Show more
