The "Clifford" is named for what you see the moment you look at it — rich cherry red pulling warmth from every angle, grounded by the depth of walnut. Crafted from cherry and walnut in an end grain construction, it brings two of the most striking domestic hardwoods together into a board built for daily use. Why end grain?End grain boards absorb knife strikes rather than resisting them — the blade passes between the wood fibers instead of cutting across them. The result is a self-healing surface that stays smooth under heavy use, extends the life of your knives, and develops a natural patina instead of scarring. Why cherry and walnut?Cherry starts pale and deepens into rich amber tones over time — one of the most visually rewarding hardwoods available. Walnut runs dark chocolate alongside it, scoring 1010 on the Janka scale and adding serious density and contrast. Together they create a checkerboard end grain surface that's as distinctive as it is durable. Despite that density, both species are remarkably lightweight — easy to move and comfortable for daily use. Finished with food grade mineral oil and beeswax. Handmade in Ottawa. Ships across Canada.
