The "Crippled Eagles" were an informal group of approximately 300 American volunteers who fought in the Rhodesian Security Forces during the Rhodesian Bush War in the 1970s. Many w ere Vietnam War veterans drawn to anti-communist soldiering. American author Robin Moore coined the name to symbolize those US soldier's perceived abandonment by the U.S. government.
