The Dining Room (2024) is part of Chiizii’s ongoing NNI BU OGWU (Food Is Medicine) thesis, examining the personal motivations underpinning the work and its roots in familial, perso nal and collective experiences of health and consumption. Translated from an original collage into print form, the work brings together layered images of Chiizii’s uncle’s dining room in Lagos, Nigeria, a site of shared memory, overlaid with a nocturnal road in Onitsha and a sunset view from the grounds of her grandfather’s home. The composition moves between ancestral and non ancestral spaces, reflecting the environments that have shaped her Nigerian food culture and lived experience.
