ELEMENTS EXHIBITION 8 piece Installation Made from corrugated iron, waxed cord and mercerised thread. This iron was rescued from Invercargill, from a Historic home that is being re stored. The pink was just from the edges of the iron - it would not have been visible from the outside so Gilly loves the fact that it is now getting its chance to come out into the sun. Some of the thread in this installation is also very special. The thin white thread was sourced from a second hand store in Wānaka so it will have its own story. The Salmon pink thick waxed cord was bought in Spain and Gilly loves the fact that there were probably tourists who came from Spain to see the pink and white terraces which this installation celebrates. Gilly has always been fascinated by this ‘eighth wonder’ - a family member of Gilly's has a beautiful print of the terraces on the wall and Gilly finds its beauty quite overawing - Gilly can see why people came from far and wide to see them. 620mm (w) x 780mm (h) Show more
