Lestat is a handmade ghost figurine. He has never once considered that a room might not want him in it. This has never been a problem. The room always comes around. In the north, w inter does not merely arrive. It works. It finds the cracks in stone and widens them. It strips bark from trees. It takes what was whole and reminds it, patiently and without malice, that nothing lasts forever. The Eldritch cats have watched it all.
