Plover/masked lapwing Plovers love to nest in stupid places – like the middle of the school oval. Having nested, they defend the nest against intruders (i.e. your kids at recess) w ith the vigour one would expect of a masked superhero. While many people hate them for this, others applaud their exceptional parenting. Perhaps they wouldn’t have to parent so exceptionally if they chose more suitable real estate.
