Garlic has long held a place in global folklore, from medicine to magic. In Central and Eastern Europe, it was believed to ward off evil, used in white magic and carried for protection against demons, werewolves, and vampires. In ancient Korean mythology, it even held the power of transformation: a bear, eating nothing but garlic and mugwort for 100 days, was said to become a woman, giving rise to the kingdom of Gojoseon.
