If you're looking for that classic wal-type tone, this is the pickup for you. With the Hammer Classic, there are 2 coils for each string. This arrangement enhances string to string definition and provides multiple wiring options. Plus, its equally at home with an active preamp as it is running passively. Individual Humbuckers. This is how Wal Bass configures their pickups. The pair of coils for each string form a humbucking pair. This arrangement makes it so that every string has its own humbucker, which increases string-to-string definition. This is the ideal setup for filter based preamps that have individual inputs for each string, like the Lusithand Double NFP Special MKII. Series/Parallel. This option wires each row of coils together. You can then run the rows in series for extra power, or parallel for clarity and definition.
