Steven Wilson's seventh solo studio album, The Harmony Codex, released on 29 September 2023 via Virgin Music, is a 65-minute, genre-spanning exploration blending progressive rock, electronica, jazz, and ambient synthscapes across 10 tracks. The title track The Harmony Codex and Staircase are loosely inspired by a dystopian short story of the same name from Wilson's 2022 autobiography Limited Edition of One. The album delves into themes of life's journey, memory, mortality, and existential uncertainty, often using the metaphor of an endless staircase. Recorded remotely during the pandemic in Wilson's North London home studio, the album features a cinematic, immersive soundscape mixed in Dolby Atmos for spatial audio. Standout tracks like the epic "Impossible Tightrope" and the hypnotic title track showcase Wilson's innovative production, creating a puzzle-like musical labyrinth that rewards repeated listens. The 2026 Headphone Dust Atmos Edition of The Harmony Codex features the album in Dolby Atmos (presented in E-AC3 JOC and TrueHD variants), Hi-Res Stereo and 5.1 Surround (both FLAC 96kHz/24bit) a new Binaural Headphone Dust mix (stereo FLAC 48kHz/24bit).
