Kayagofukin is a cloth made of mosquito net fabric carefully woven in Nara Prefecture, the only remaining mosquito net production area in Japan, and embroidered and printed in Waka yama Prefecture. It is said that the origin of this product is that female workers at a mosquito net factory began sewing several pieces together and making them for their own use, out of waste pieces from defective fabrics and leftover fabrics. At first, the fabric is stiff and taut because of the glue, but when the glue dissolves in warm water, the fabric becomes a soft, fluffy texture with excellent water absorbency (1.3 times that of cotton), dries quickly, and is durable - making it perfect as a kitchen cloth, tea towel or just about any other use around the household.
