I began by covering the canvas in gold metal leaf and applying liquids and salt in natural patterns which created the bright red and aqua oxidization. Then adding in black paint to break up the pattern.... and then it sat for years until one day when I was learning to use oil paints I was drawn back to the canvas and started painting in the owl who called out through my intuition. There's a very deep message in the images I added to the owl, the compass and it's reading and the Seven Sisters star system within the eye. Seven is my number, but I didn't know I had chosen these symbols of seven until after they were added in... what does it all mean exactly? I'm yet to discover the totality of the magic hidden within this piece!
