Description for THE LAST FAREWELL by Philip McCutchan: Philip McCutchan has written over eighty novels of naval adventure, including scores of books in the popular CAMERON, CONVOY and HALFHYDE series. Now, in an exciting departure, McCutchan offers the story of an ocean liner, brimming with passengers, in the midst of crisis. The "Laurentia", the pride of Pan Atlantic Lines' fleet, sets out from New York to the United Kingdom into the troubled waters of the First World War. Its passenger list is a microcosm of British and American society: There are politicians and actresses, bankers and lovers, scores of men, women, and children voyaging and returning to an already war-torn Europe. Unbeknownst to them, the liner is also carrying war materials; the shadow of German attack looms ahead. But Captain William Pacey must lead his ship into the night---a night that harbors uncertain fate for all aboard. Show more
