Controls: INPUT – How hard you’re driving the compressor. OUTPUT – The level after compression. RELEASE – How quickly the gain recovers. SYMMETRY – Balances waveforms that sit mostly above or below the zero line. Most of these will feel familiar if you’ve used compressors before, but SYMMETRY deserves a closer look. Bass and guitar often produce asymmetric waveforms: more signal above the zero line than below (or the reverse). The problem? Asymmetric notes compress unevenly, so some notes jump out while others get buried. SYMMETRY fixes that. It evens the playing field so every note speaks clearly, consistently, and confidently.
