When we were in the developmental stage of creating our Linlithgow Lion garden sculpture, we knew we wanted to capture more than just realism, we wanted to convey its powerful auth ority that can be added to any chosen space. The lion has always symbolised strength and presence, but certainly possesses a calm confidence, and it was that balance that became the heart of this piece. For this particular lion garden sculpture, we chose high-quality aluminium for its durability and versatility, finishing it in a brushed gold to reflect light softly across the surface. This gives the sculpture a warmth that changes throughout the day and even through the seasons, bringing it to life in different ways depending on how you view it. The process was deeply focused on detail. From the layered texture of the mane to the gentle curve of the tail, each element was carefully shaped to feel both realistic and expressive. The face, in particular, was important to get right. We chose to show the lion baring his teeth, not as aggression, but to serve as an immediate command for attention.
