They’re waterproof, comfortable and protective with Vibram® XS Trek outsoles. Plus, the THERMOBALL™ synthetic insulation helps keep your feet warm even in wet weather. Our waterproof footwear incorporates a variety of advanced waterproofing materials, treatments, and processes. To help keep feet dry, we use internal waterproof membranes and/or adhesive and seam-seal constructions. EVA Shell Upper Lightweight EVA shell upper is comfortable, easy to slip on and off, and shrugs off slush and water — ideal for post-adventure recovery or everyday errands in wet weather THERMOBALL™ Insulation THERMOBALL™ 100% recycled-polyester synthetic insulation delivers consistent warmth even when wet — small fiber clusters trap heat the way down does but continue insulating when soaked through, which makes it ideal for wet-weather slip-on wear Waterproof Seam-Sealed Construction Internal waterproof membrane + adhesive + seam-seal construction keep feet dry through slush, puddles, and wet ground — no need to worry about stepping in a puddle at the trailhead or the campsite Vibram® XS Trek Outsole Non-marking Vibram® XS Trek rubber outsole delivers the optimal balance of traction and durability — grips wet rocks, slick pavement, and muddy trailheads without leaving marks on indoor floors Slip-On Convenience Backless slip-on design for fast entry and exit — slides on at the trailhead, slides off at the door, no fiddling with laces or straps Use Type Slip-On Mule / Recovery Footwear Activity Post-Adventure Recovery · Everyday Wear · Wet-Weather Slip-On Collection Base Camp (Footwear) Sizing & Weight Sizes (Men’s US) 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5, 13, 14 Weight (½ pair) 13.09 oz (371 g) Construction Upper EVA shell Waterproofing Internal waterproof membrane + adhesive + seam-seal construction Insulation THERMOBALL™ — 100% recycled polyester Sole Outsole Non-marking Vibram® XS Trek rubber Traction Optimal balance of grip + durability (wet + dry surfaces) Sustainability Recycled Content Insulation: 100% recycled polyester Cleaning Remove loose dirt, mud, and salt with a soft brush after every outing. Wipe the EVA shell upper with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap if needed. The EVA material is non-absorbent, so most dirt comes off with a quick rinse. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, and solvent-based cleaners — they degrade the THERMOBALL™ recycled-polyester insulation and the waterproof seam-seal construction. Drying Air dry at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight. Never set the mules on a radiator, near a fire, or in a clothes dryer — high heat delaminates the waterproof membrane, degrades the THERMOBALL™ insulation, and warps the EVA shell upper. EVA can lose its shape permanently above ~150°F. Stuff loosely with crumpled newspaper for the first hour or two to wick interior moisture and hold the shape; replace the paper when it’s saturated. DWR / Waterproofing The internal waterproof membrane + seam-seal construction is built to last, but the EVA shell’s water-repellent surface wears over time. When water stops beading on the upper, re-treat with a waterproofing spray rated for synthetic/EVA materials. Inspect the seam seals periodically — small lifts can usually be repaired with a seam-seal adhesive (Gear Aid Aquaseal + FD or similar) before they become leaks. Vibram® Outsole Care Clear mud, packed dirt, and road salt from the XS Trek lugs with a stiff brush after each use to preserve traction. Buildup in the lugs dramatically reduces grip on wet rocks and muddy surfaces. Vibram® rubber is tough but check periodically for wear; once the tread is visibly smoothed, the mule has lost meaningful traction and should be replaced. THERMOBALL™ Re-Fluffing THERMOBALL™ synthetic insulation can lose loft over years of compression, especially after long storage under heavy gear. If the mules feel less warm than they used to, tumble dry on low with 2–3 clean tennis balls for 10–15 minutes to re-fluff the fiber clusters and restore thermal performance. Manual hand-fluffing of any clumped sections is also effective. EVA Shell Care EVA is light + comfy but scuffs more easily than leather or rubber. White + light-color EVA uppers will mark with normal wear — this is cosmetic and doesn’t affect performance. For deep scuffs, a magic eraser (melamine sponge) with light pressure works well on EVA; test in a small area first. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight storage — UV degrades EVA over time, causing the surface to yellow and become brittle. Storage Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight. Stand the mules upright (or use boot shapers) to maintain the heel and toe shape. Never store damp — trapped moisture in the THERMOBALL™ insulation leads to mildew and odor. Allow mules to dry fully between uses, especially after a wet outing.
