The Designers When a relentlessly lovely member of our community informed me they were designing a keyboard with KBD Fans, I could hardly contain my excitement. It's an honour to host this group buy for Serajiman, the designer, in partnership with KBDFans. The Onibi TKL brings Japanese folklore, architectural form, and precision machining into a TKL that stands out. It has a stunning sound profile, and really unique aesthetic plus some of the wildest colours I have ever seen in a recent Group Buy. The Story The Onibi TKL is a functional piece of art intended to evoke Japanese Shinto architectural design. Shrines are meticulously designed and cared for, and in the same way this keyboard has many elements that reflect that principle. The clean screwless interior hides inner workings while the sculpted round curves of the side profile reminds you of a torii gate in rural Japan. The top down view is completely unique.This keyboard is flexible based on what type of statement you want to make. It can be either an explosion of colour and vibrance, with an accompanying front case logo to accentuate the fun.... Or it can be a reserved and elegant presence on your desk, perhaps in a silver colourway with White-on-Black keycaps. Perhaps even themed around the colourway of a Shinto shrine itself? The internal weight grounds the board and elevates the sound profile to one of the best in modern TKL experiences. The dual mounting system gives you the ability to fine-tune sound and feel to your exact preferences. This is a board that will suit the Cherry fans, and the HMX crowd in equal measure. The aim of the design was to represent the essence of Onibi – a flaming spirit that guides lost souls to the afterlife – the Shinto shrine being what Serajiman imagines their ‘natural habitat’ would be. The flaming skull is their interpretation of Onibi as a character, and adds a playful element to the keyboard in various locations. Why Onibi? Dual Mounting Experience: Support for both Top Mount and Gasket Dumbbell mounting offers tonal versatility and allows for a range of typing experiences and sound profiles. Elegant, Screwless Exterior: The external case is clean and screw-free via internal locking design. To access screws, just remove top/bottom key rows. Cherry Lip Front: A nostalgic nod to vintage Cherry OEM boards (e.g. G80‑3000), giving the board a comfortable resting edge for your hands. Japanese Folklore Aesthetic: Side profiles evoke Shinto architecture; surfaces have variable filleted edges that reflect lighting in unique ways. Heavyweight Presence: When fully built, the Onibi weighs in around 3 kg, using a copper internal weight and sound channels integrated into the design.
