The work is from the series called - 'The Openings'. Created in the wake of my mother's death, this series reflects on grief and the wound as a site of transformation. Returning to the fields near her home, I gathered common yarrow – a Slavic medicinal and magical plant traditionally used to heal cuts – to dye these silk works. Through slow natural-dye processes, the works trace the movement from rupture toward insight, suggesting that loss can open unexpected forms of seeing. Show more
