Built for life on the road, the Outback Camper Flat Pack Firepit and Grill is a tough, compact cooking and fire solution designed for camping, touring and backyard use. Inspired by the Chiasson Smoke Hauler grill, this design takes the proven concept and adds practical quality-of-life improvements for Australian conditions. Available in two configurations to suit your setup, whether you just want a firepit or the full cooking experience. Both options now feature rotisserie motor mounting holes designed to suit most rotisserie motor setups, including standard Gasmate units available from Bunnings. Construction & Materials The firepit body is manufactured from 3mm Corten steel. Corten steel is designed to form a stable surface rust layer that protects the steel underneath. This makes it highly resistant to weathering, perfect for outdoor use, and gives it a rugged, natural finish that looks better with age. The grill and griddle are made from 3mm mild steel. Mild steel is ideal for cooking due to its excellent heat retention and durability. Like any quality cooking surface, these plates will require seasoning before use and ongoing care to maintain performance. The bottle opener and tool are made from 304 stainless steel for corrosion resistance and long-term durability. All components are laser cut from 3mm material for strength and longevity. ⚠️ Important: Steel & Heat – Warping Is Normal Please be aware that some warping or movement of the steel panels is a normal characteristic of this product and is not considered a manufacturing defect. Steel expands when heated and contracts as it cools. When exposed to the intense and uneven temperatures generated by a fire or hot coals, steel panels can naturally move, bow or warp. This can occur even with significantly thicker steel. This is particularly relevant to the flat-pack design, where individual panels are designed to slot together while remaining compact and portable. The trade-off for a product that packs flat, transports easily and can handle extreme heat is that the panels may experience some movement during use. Minor warping does not affect the strength, functionality or performance of the firepit. In many cases, panels will move back towards their original shape as they cool, while more noticeable movement can generally be adjusted back into position by hand when the steel is cool. Do not attempt to straighten hot panels. Always allow the firepit and cooking components to cool completely before making any adjustments.
