This painting is part of a series exploring figures in relation to domestic space and objects. Two figure/objects share the canvas, yet neither is fully settled. One stands upright , rough and fleshy, its form marked by loose lines and scratchy gestures. The other resembles a table or pair of legs, topped with a lampshade, an everyday object rendered alien in its attempt at human guise. Estranged yet symbiotic, they blur the line between subject and object. Worn and nostalgic, they evoke a pre-digital era, questioning the body's representation as digital technologies increasingly flatten the visceral reality of flesh. Show more
