Three interchangeable inserts sit in the headjoint shell: mouthpiece insert, windway insert, and edge insert. Each changes a different part of how the sound is produced. Four tuning joints set the pitch standard anywhere from 430-450 Hz/± 40 cents. Manufactured in California with accuracy to ±0.02 mm and material matching the density of fine woods used in Western woodwinds. Finishes: Gray carries the subtle tonal variation inherent to the material and process. Black is uniform and controlled.
