This painting recreates for me the thrill of seeing my first Sting Ray in the fall of 1962. Darwin Clark, the owner of a black 1963 coupe and then a vice-president of General Motor s, was eager to let me photograph his car as the subject of a watercolor painting. I envisioned it beside a Kirksville, Missouri, landmark, and “The Tastee Freez” became a special memory for me. Show more
