The Tusk is a digital illustration of The Black Tusk, the iconic volcanic peak which can be seen all over the Sea to Sky corridor. The Black Tusk, originally known as t'ak't'ak mu' yin tl'a in7in'a'xe7en, translates to Landing Place of the Thunderbird. Zessel used reference photos from her own experiences hiking and skiing the Tusk to create the this design. Different approaches to the mountain make the Tusk take on very different shapes. The angle in the final design was chosen because Zessel grew up skiing Whistler and this is the view seen when you unload Peak Chair at the top of the mountain. Show more
