TheiCal-D3 Chewable Tablets contain a high-strength combination of calcium and vitamin D3. They are used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiency in older adults and may also be used alongside specific osteoporosis treatments where additional calcium and vitamin D are required. How to take:Adults and elderly: Take 1 chewable tablet once daily. Chew the tablet before swallowing. It can be taken at any time of day, with or without food. Avoid taking the tablet within 2 hours of foods particularly high in oxalic acid or phytic acid, such as spinach, rhubarb and wholegrain cereals, as these may reduce calcium absorption. Important information:Not suitable for people under 18 years. Do not take TheiCal-D3 if you have high calcium levels in the blood or urine, hyperparathyroidism, certain cancers affecting the bones, excessive vitamin D levels or severe kidney problems. Do not take additional calcium or vitamin D supplements at the same time unless advised by a healthcare professional. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have kidney problems, kidney stones, sarcoidosis, are immobilised with osteoporosis, or take cardiac glycosides or thiazide diuretics. Calcium can affect the absorption of several medicines. Levothyroxine should generally be taken at least 4 hours apart, while bisphosphonates and some antibiotics may also require several hours between doses. Possible side effects include nausea, abdominal discomfort, constipation, diarrhoea, wind, bloating or skin reactions. Excessive intake may cause high calcium levels in the blood or urine. Contains aspartame, sorbitol, isomalt and sucrose. During pregnancy, the licensed dose should not exceed half a tablet daily, unless otherwise advised by a healthcare professional.
