Combining the micro-management of Settlers with the combat strategy style of Command & Conquer type games and placing it in a different historical period from normal games is no mean achievement. This is the game that Age of Empires (a great game itself) should have been, the inclusion of fighting in formation is a great step forward in gaming of this style and the added fantasy element of magic spells only adds to the experience. Although difficult to get into, the learning curve is quite steep, perseverance pays dividends in a rich and engrossing test of mind.
