Story Books have a more important impact on our minds than we realize. As we all know, life can introduce us to stress at inconvenient, random times that may take us off guard. Most people don't even realize that one of the most natural ways to reduce their stress is through reading. Crazy, right? Studies show that escaping into literary worlds distracts our minds from what tends to overwhelm us. In fact, reading something you enjoy can reduce stress by nearly 68%! Whether you're an avid science fiction and fantasy reader, or simply interested in catching up on your town's local news in the paper, words have the power of taking your mind off of things, even for just a little bit. Reading keeps our minds active by intriguing us with the thought of different circumstances or possible worlds, which can ease our worries about the realities we face every single day. It's only human to experience worry, stress, and anxiety. Books offer us a way to remain grounded, yet allow our imaginations to enter a landscape of dreams and other times. That's why this Strap is one of my favorites, and one I am ecstatic to share with you. Say hello to Thesaurus! I feel like this is a wonderful reminder of how books, words, and reading anything, in general, can help you take your mind off of things for a bit – just until the world settles down around you. Plus, the cute librarian dinosaurs are a blast from the past that reminds us to not take life so seriously. This is a reminder I truly needed this week, and I hope it encourages you, as well.
