Resource ThickenUp Clear is a xanthan gum-based instant food and drink thickener for the dietary management of people with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). It is designed to modify the consistency of liquids and foods to the IDDSI level recommended by a speech and language therapist or other healthcare professional. It thickens rapidly while helping liquids remain clear, smooth and lump free, with minimal effect on their natural taste and aroma. It can be used with hot, cold and carbonated drinks as well as puréed foods. How to use: For best results: Add the required amount of Resource ThickenUp Clear powder first to a clean, dry cup, glass or beaker. Add the required volume of liquid. Stir immediately until the powder is completely dissolved. Allow to stand for at least 1 minute until the required consistency has developed. Check that the drink has reached the IDDSI consistency recommended by the speech and language therapist or healthcare professional before serving. Do not add additional powder once the drink has already thickened. For puréed food, add Resource ThickenUp Clear as required until the prescribed consistency is achieved. Special preparation considerations: For hot drinks, prepare the drink first, then add it to the powder. Allow it to cool sufficiently before serving. For carbonated drinks, stirring first to reduce some of the carbonation may improve results. For milk, allow several minutes for the required thickness to develop. Oral nutritional supplements may require different quantities and a longer standing time than water.
