Matt Kolbrener's work incorporates forms and surface textures that capture and reflect light in ways totally unique to glass. Inspired by the post-industrial landscapes of Pittsbur gh and Detroit, Kolbrener's approach to shaping hot glass has its roots in mass production. He constructs custom-made molds and tooling to form and texture the hot glass into shapes that capture Detroit's rich manufacturing history in an industrial, modern, retro aesthetic all his own.
